I would love to get to know you too, but first, let me introduce myself and tell you what Im all about. I’m Kristal Annette and I love to create Lifestyle images that have more of a documentary flare with a vintage touch giving you all sorts of nostalgia and goosebumps when you look back at frozen memories! Because I remember how it felt as a child looking back at old photo albums of my parents; admiring their wedding photos with vintage gown and tux with the feeling of warmth and wonder. I want to create the same feeling with my art! Its something I want to be a part of in the lives of those I get to make memories with! I want you to feel the same when you look back at your forever visual memories! Its so important to me that not just you but anyone who sees your images can actually feel what was experienced in that moment between the two of you!
Oh….aaand what about me as a person? Glad you are wondering! ;P Im a very laid back girl who grew up on a 20 acre ranch living surrounded by my big Mexican family! My home base is the town of Yuma in a little corner of Arizona next to the Mexican and Californian border. We are surrounded by agriculture and desert. I find it such a blessing to have grown up here! I love exploring new places or sometimes I just love staying home, relaxing + enjoying nature with my doggies.
My dad was a self taught film photographer and would ask my mom + me to model for him. I didn’t like modeling much but I’m so grateful now for photos we can look back on + relive the olden days! I think I take from him in my love for photos because as soon as I got my first disposable camera, I never stopped taking pictures.
I remember often going to develop my film and taking my pictures to school and asking every one if they wanted to see them. I would share them with everyone who valued what I had to share! It might have been annoying to some but this was pre-facebook. I loved the feeling of sharing my prints in person. Not having to scroll on a phone but flipping through old albums and seeing images in print. I’m happy film is making a comeback! My goal with my photography is eventually to go back into film and more specifically, B+W documentary + journalistic film photography. Im self taught and am excited to keep learning all I can to best serve people with my gifting.
Because I have an old soul, and love antiques collect unique items, my bedroom has been described as smelling like an thrift store. Yes, I also love thrifting! I used to own a thrift shop, and literally set it up in my bedroom! Like they say, “another man’s trash is another woman’s treasure”. It’s true for me and I’m addicted to special things with a story. I may have hoarded a bit but years later some of those things have come in handy! I buy knowing it will have a future use so it’s only confirmed that I was meant to have it when I find it’s belonging!
I almost became an interior designer and went to school for it but decided I liked it for fun, not as a career. I sort of wish I would have known that before racking up all that school debt (Face Palm on Forehead")! I learned so much more in school from my classmates than I did from some teachers. However, Im grateful for the really good teachers who actually cared about teaching; whom I learned so much from. What I learned there, now helps me in my business. I hope to do something with that knowledge in the future; like maybe….designing + building tiny houses or travel homes(I’ve been bingeing tiny living videos on Youtube lately)! I would of course design one for myself and live in it! My dream is to remodel and live in an old airstream camper and road trip all over the US! Well thats just one of my crazy dreams!
Another dream and something Im passionate about, that combines my love for travel, is reaching out to people in need in missions trips. Im so grateful I’ve been able to travel to places in Mexico and Peru for missions opportunities on short term trips but I am excited to one day be able to move to a country that I feel God is calling me to reach and excited to meet a people whom I can call my own!
I love art in different forms and can do so many things but found photography is where my creativity and sense of wonder collide! I love to interact and hear peoples stories and this is a way to do what Im passionate about while also serving people!
